CHILLED BEER AND QUESTIONS AT THE ANISE GALLERY

I gave a talk about my work at the Anise Gallery on Friday ... made even more enjoyable for me by a seemingly endless tub of chilled beer bottles.  It was great fun working with the gallery's high-tech TV screens, and mobile picture display units which I could rotate whenever I needed to refer to paintings on either side.
As with last time I gave a talk here, the questions at the end were the best bit, where I got some useful responses to my own development - in particular how depth of meaning, as well as pictorial depth might emerge from suggesting interiority.

In the lower picture, you can see my painting Crust hanging in one of the mobile displays - on the other side is another painting called Pilot.  Most of the audience were sitting on swivel chairs, so they could turn to face any work being discussed.  Note also the publicity photo for the Ruin Lust show at the Tate on the screens, which I am in the process of reviewing to the audience.
