THOM GORST WORK PROVED TO BE A FAKE

I have just finished contributing to the filming of an episode of the most excellent TV series Fake or Fortune, in which Fiona Bruce and Philip Mould (whom I discover is also from the Wirral) try to establish the authenticity of a work of art.
In this episode they were considering my very own work Engine Room.
For those of you who aren't familiar with it, here it is:

Despite its remarkable use of impasto, and a palette that clearly derives from the mid-twentieth century at the earliest, the programme concluded that the work is, in fact, a forgery,  and was painted by a pupil of Philip de Loutherbourg.
Although I claimed to remember having painted it, the programme established through forensic tests that I could not possibly have done so, since it had already been painted by someone else.
